The psychological health and the well-being of employees will be key to return to normality in the offices, as has been revealed in a new session of SavillsTalks now at the office, which has been moderated by Leyre Octavio de Toledo,Executive Director architecture of Savills Aguirre Newman, and which has had the participation of Christine Loos, general director of Spain and Southern Europe of the consultancy Stimulus.
In this new session has been outlined the new scenario on which will return to the offices, scenario that poses a paradigm shift in the usual way of working, in which the emotional health of employees takes on special importance.
Both experts have agreed that this new situation will mean changes in people, so it will be necessary to take stock of how the teams are and provide the management committees with the emotional and coexistence skills necessary to generate trust among employees, while managers will have to manage emotions within the work environment.
In this sense, Leyre Octavio de Toledo has pointed out that "this new stage has opened new ecosystems of possibilities with respect to being in the office or not and it will be necessary to design workspaces that adapt to this new work environment in which design is used to make teams feel happy".
"There are more and more companies that bet on psychological health in the work environment"
Trends accelerated by Covid-19
The speakers have also pointed out that for some time there has been an evolution in the way of working that has been accelerated by Covid-19. This new situation is the beginning of new challenges that companies must face and in which it will be necessary to provide employees with tools to measure their emotional health so that companies know what personal situation each member of the team is in.
Although before the outbreak of the pandemic there was a lot of focus on the healthy part at work, there are more and more companies that bet on psychological health in the work environment.
In this sense, the experts agree that it is important to understand where employees are and reevaluate the way of working to resume the normal activity of the company and make work become a more humane place.
Christine Loos has also pointed out that "this new normal makes us focus now on three focuses within the work that will serve as a guide when returning to the offices: the work itself to recover the activity; the design of the new spaces of social cohesion of the teams; and the recognition of the workers, essential for the proper functioning of the company".
